A robotic arm grips pre-stretched wire mesh and aligns it seamlessly with a rectangular frame. In an instant, a high-frequency spot welder locks the mesh edges. Sparks fly, and within moments, a tightly bound noise barrier takes shape.
At 9 a.m. on August 4, inside the production workshop of Hebei Jinbiao Construction Materials Technology Co., Ltd. in Anping County, workers were rushing to complete a batch of noise barriers bound for Chile.
The bridge that connects these products to global buyers is none other than the company's self-developed WIRE AI — an intelligent wire mesh platform.
"This is China's first large-model application platform for the wire mesh industry. Through AI-powered product and factory recommendations, it helps overseas buyers quickly and accurately locate high-quality products and manufacturers in Anping," explained Sun Peirou, a project leader at WIRE AI.
Launched in October 2023, the overseas edition of WIRE AI has already attracted more than 100 overseas buyers and many local manufacturers. The platform has greatly improved efficiency in matching international supply with demand.
Thanks to this AI empowerment, JINBIAO has sold its products to over 600 overseas companies across more than 50 countries and regions. Exports now account for over 30% of its annual sales, opening a broader global market.
"Which companies produce iron wire?"
Sun Peirou demonstrates the system by typing this simple query into WIRE AI. Within seconds, the platform generates a list of 10 recommended enterprises. By refining the search with specific requirements - such as product specifications, techniques, and materials—the list narrows to 6 companies, each with detailed profiles covering company background, product descriptions, certifications, and case studies.
"Overseas customers no longer need to travel across the ocean to inspect potential partners. They can now 'visit' factories virtually," Sun said.
In March 2025, the company presented WIRE AI at the Cologne Asia-Pacific Hardware Exhibition in Germany. The platform drew strong interest, and several international businesses immediately expressed their intention to join.
As the world's largest wire mesh production base, Anping County is home to more than 16,000 wire mesh enterprises. The region accounts for over 80% of China's woven mesh output and exports, earning the title "Hometown of Wire Mesh."
Yet, fewer than 10% of these companies have the strength to independently explore overseas markets. For most small and micro enterprises, language barriers, lack of reliable channels, and information gaps form invisible walls separating them from global opportunities.
Even JINBIAO, a leading exporter, faced limitations. Its product line was relatively narrow, making it difficult to meet the diverse needs of international buyers. Many orders slipped away.
"We wanted to expand overseas, but our product range was too limited. Meanwhile, small enterprises had plenty of products but no channels to go abroad. Why not combine our strengths and grow together?" recalled General Manager Zhang Ganli.
Seeing the potential of AI in cross-border trade, JINBIAO made a decisive move in December 2023. It founded Hebei Dabai Technology Co., Ltd. and assembled a core R&D team. After months of innovation, they developed a large-scale AI model tailored to the wire mesh industry - WIRE AI.
In October 2024, the overseas edition of WIRE AI officially launched with a clear mission:
"We want this model to do more than just answer questions. It should open an affordable, efficient pathway for Anping's wire mesh companies to reach international markets and enable seamless communication with overseas buyers," said Sun Peirou.
To achieve this, Dabai Technology built a dynamic wire mesh database.
On one hand, the platform encourages industry professionals to share data and insights. This crowdsourced content has already generated tens of thousands of entries.
On the other hand, the system collects information from domestic and overseas websites in real time and actively gathers data from trade exhibitions worldwide.
In total, the database has accumulated over 7 million records. After AI labeling, cleaning, and filtering, the data distilled into a high-quality industry knowledge base of 70,000 precise entries.
To overcome language and time zone challenges, WIRE AI supports 20+ languages with real-time translation and provides 24/7 cross-border e-commerce support, eliminating communication barriers.
WIRE AI has also launched an online wire mesh marketplace, featuring over 5,000 products. Overseas buyers can browse, select products, and directly connect with Chinese manufacturers via Google-accessible WIRE AI overseas edition.
This marketplace has already benefited companies like Hebei Fusheng Wire Mesh Co., Ltd., a small manufacturer specializing in steel grating. Struggling in a saturated domestic market, Fusheng registered on the marketplace as soon as it launched. Within two weeks, it secured its first African order.
Today, Fusheng has built stable partnerships with more than 30 overseas clients and expanded its export portfolio to over 20 product types.
"The online marketplace gave us the chance to step outside and compete internationally," a company representative shared.
While WIRE AI has helped enterprises "sell more," the next goal is to help them "design and create."
Currently, the R&D team is developing new functions to support customized overseas orders. Traditionally, designers must spend long hours searching references, drafting, and revising drawings. In the future, they will simply input design concepts and product parameters into WIRE AI. The system will generate precise 3D renderings, verify details such as size, material, and color, and flag potential errors.
This innovation will greatly shorten the customization cycle, enabling wire mesh companies to accept and deliver international orders faster.
